New Durham 4-6 Concert POSTPONED TO WED. 12/11

All afternoon/evening activities are canceled throughout the district this evening (12/9), which means that WE WILL NOT HAVE THE NDS 4-6 CONCERT tonight.

THE NDS 4-6 CONCERT HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11 AT 6:30pm.  All other details about the concert will remain the same.  Thank you for your flexibility, and see you Wednesday!

A Note About Weather...

I, like everyone else, am watching the weather carefully these next 2 weeks.  Weather is always a variable when it comes to the winter concert season.  To quote the K-3 musical this season, "that's just the way that it is!"  Long ago I gave up worrying/fretting over weather forcing a postponement of a concert.  We can't control the weather, so we just have to deal with what it hands us.  I have a whole lot more on my plate that I CAN control, so I will worry about THOSE things and just let the weather do its thing!

IF the weather cancels tomorrow evening's (12/9) NDS 4-6 Holiday Concert, please stay tuned to this page as well as any AlertNow calls from Ms. Tremblay and paper notices sent home with your child once we confirm plans for a reschedule date.  I can think of very few scenarios that would cause us to simply cancel a performance altogether with no makeup date, so you can rest assured that we WILL find a time to make it up, even if we have to put the show on in January!  And if that happens, I know you will all still come to hear your children perform and we'll all still be excited to perform for you, regardless of what the calendar says!  And all will be well.  :)

So with that said:
- Listen to and watch the weather,
- Be prepared to have a concert on the scheduled date until we are told otherwise, and
- If we're told otherwise and we have to postpone, take a deep breath and stay tuned for announcements regarding a make-up date.

See you all soon!

It's the Holiday (Concert) Season!

We are becoming very busy in the music department these days!  The Holiday Concert season is looming, and all of the logistics surrounding the concerts, as well as keeping the day-to-day music program going, are certainly keeping this music teacher hopping!

We're Growing!
I haven't posted since my initial post back in September, but I'm hoping you've noticed how this blog has grown over the past few months!  I am continuing to add information as necessary, and I hope you've become comfortable navigating around the site to find the information you're looking for.  As often as I can, I am trying to include electronic copies here on the site of most of the paper notices I send home.  There is now a School Newsletter tab where you can find the music portions of the most recent school newsletters.  NDS chorus members can click on the "NDS Chorus Practice Guide" tab to find recordings of our concert songs to practice with at home as the concert approaches.  I've also included a "Music Links" tab, where you will find a plethora of links to musical games and activities.

'Tis the Season!
Regarding concert season, you should be able to find all the answers to any questions you may have somewhere on the site.  Good places to look are at the Concert tabs themselves (make sure you click on the right school!); the School Newsletter tab, where I've posted specific concert dress and arrival details; and the Band tab, where you can find a copy of the Concert Exchange Program notices.

I look forward to seeing all of you in attendance at our concerts next month!  We're very much looking forward to sharing all of our hard work with you.

Welcome to the 2013-2014 School Year!

I hope you've had a wonderful summer!  I certainly have, though I also recognize that it's time to get back into a routine and start making music together again!

I have created this blog primarily as a point of reference for you, my NDS and TCS students and parents.  With as much time as we all spend online these days, I figured it would be helpful to have a place online to check for important information, especially if the hard-copy notices I send home from time to time tend to get misplaced...

Click on the tabs above to navigate to the information you are looking for.  This year's concert dates are already posted, along with some answers to commonly asked questions about the concerts.  Be sure to click on the concert tab for your school!  There is a tab dedicated to Music and Arts, where you can find links to ways to contact M&A, start a rental, etc.  As we work through the fall, I expect to get a lot more information posted, so stay tuned and check back often!  If you think of a question that would be helpful to have answered on this page, please feel free to email me at kjohnson@govwentworth.k12.nh.us.

Looking forward to a great, music-filled year!
